Apple Danishes

Apple Danishes

Flaky, golden Apple Danishes filled with sweet cinnamon apples and topped with a delicate glaze. A comforting treat perfect for breakfast or dessert.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 danishes 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Puff Pastry Sheets: thawed, provides a buttery, flaky base
  • 2 Apples: medium, peeled and finely diced, add sweet-tart fruitiness
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar: adds caramel notes to the filling
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon: brings warm spice to the apples
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice: prevents browning and adds brightness
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch: thickens the apple mixture
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract: enhances flavor depth
  • 1 Egg: beaten, for golden egg wash
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar: forms the glaze
  • 1 tbsp Milk: thins the glaze for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Roll out puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to smooth folds.
  4. Cut each sheet into 4 squares. Add apple filling to each center and fold opposite corners over the filling.
  5. Place danishes on baking sheet. Brush with egg wash.
  6. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  7. Cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
  8. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.
  • Do not overfill pastries to avoid leaks.
  • Glaze only after pastries have cooled slightly.
  • Freeze unbaked danishes for later baking.
