Ingredients
- Apples: 2 medium, peeled, cored, and chopped
- Flour: 1 ½ cups
- Sugar: 3 tablespoons
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
- Salt: ¼ teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Egg: 1 large
- Milk: ¾ cup
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil: for frying
- Powdered sugar: for glazing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just mixed.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Make sure your frying pan or deep fryer has enough oil to submerge the fritters. Monitor the oil temperature with a thermometer.
- Assemble the Dish: Add the chopped apples to the batter and gently mix to combine.
- Cook to Perfection: Spoon dollops of the batter into the hot oil, frying in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Finishing Touches: Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm with or without a drizzle of glaze, or enjoy them on their own.
Notes
- Make sure to use a thermometer to check the oil temperature for crispy fritters.
- Feel free to add raisins or walnuts to the batter for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven to regain their crispiness.
