Soft, chewy, and packed with natural goodness, these Banana and Peanut Butter Chewy Sticks are the perfect homemade treat for your furry friend. Made with simple, nutritious ingredients like bananas, peanut butter, and oats, they’re sure to get tails wagging!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ripe banana (mashed)
  • 1/4 cup creamy, unsalted peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1 cup oat flour (or finely blended rolled oats)
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats (for texture)
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 tablespoons water (if needed to bind the dough)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Dough
    • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth.
    • Stir in the peanut butter and egg until well combined.
    • Gradually add the oat flour and rolled oats. Mix until a thick dough forms.
    • If the dough is too dry, add water 1 tablespoon at a time to bring it together.
  • Shape the Chewy Sticks
    • Scoop out portions of dough and roll them into stick shapes about 4-5 inches long.
    • Place the sticks on the lined baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  • Bake
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the sticks are firm on the outside but slightly soft in the center for a chewy texture.
  • Cool Completely
    • Let the chewy sticks cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your dog.

Notes

  • Ensure your peanut butter is xylitol-free as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • For extra chewiness, slightly underbake the sticks (around 18-20 minutes).
  • You can add a sprinkle of chia seeds or flaxseed for an omega-3 boost.
