Ingredients
- Pie Crust: 1 (9-inch, pre-baked or store-bought)
- Whole Milk: 2 cups
- Granulated Sugar: 3/4 cup
- Egg Yolks: 3 large
- Cornstarch: 1/4 cup
- Salt: 1/4 tsp
- Vanilla Extract: 1 tsp
- Bananas: 3 medium
- Whipped Cream: 1 cup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F if you’re baking your crust.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Slowly whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
- Prepare your pie crust by baking it until golden, then let it cool.
- Layer the sliced bananas in the pie crust. Pour the cooled custard over the bananas, then top with whipped cream.
- Chill the pie for at least 2 hours to allow it to set properly.
- Garnish with extra banana slices and whipped cream before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to let the custard cool slightly before adding the bananas to avoid mushy fruit.
- For a richer custard, you can use half-and-half or heavy cream instead of milk.
