This easy and fun Bread in a Bag recipe is perfect for beginner bakers! No mess, no kneading on the counter—just place everything in a bag and let the magic happen. Soft, homemade bread in no time!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (divided)
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • 1 packet rapid-rise yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast:
In a resealable bag, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, yeast, and warm water. Let it sit for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.

  • Add More Ingredients:
Add 1 more cup of flour, olive oil, and salt into the bag. Seal the bag and knead it with your hands until the dough comes together (about 5 minutes).

  • Add the Remaining Flour:
Add the remaining flour to the bag, then shape the dough into a loaf. If the dough is sticky, you can add a little more flour until it reaches a smooth consistency.

  • Let the Dough Rise:
Let the dough rise inside the bag for about 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size.

  • Bake:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, remove it from the bag, shape it into a loaf, and place it on a baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Notes

  • You can add herbs, garlic, or even cheese to the dough for extra flavor.
  • If you prefer a crustier loaf, you can brush the top of the dough with olive oil before baking.
