These rich and chewy toffee bars are made with a cake mix base, layered with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and crunchy toffee bits. A simple yet indulgent dessert perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, melted butter, and egg until a dough forms. Press two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  • Add the Toffee Bits: Sprinkle the toffee bits evenly over the dough layer.
  • Make the Chocolate Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, stir together the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and vanilla extract until melted and smooth. Pour this mixture over the toffee bits.
  • Top the Bars: Crumble the remaining dough over the chocolate layer.
  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, you can substitute the chocolate chips with a combination of milk and dark chocolate.
  • Feel free to add a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty contrast.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
