    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • ½ cup buttermilk
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 ½ cups cherries, pitted and chopped (fresh or frozen)
  • Crumb Topping:

    • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Prepare the Muffin Batter:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with liners or grease well.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
    • In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
    • Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
    • Gently fold in chopped cherries.
  • Make the Crumb Topping:

    • In a small bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
  • Bake:

    • Spoon batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about ¾ full.
    • Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over each muffin.
    • Bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool and Serve:

    • Let muffins cool for 5 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • If using frozen cherries, make sure to thaw and drain them well before adding to the batter to prevent excess moisture.
  • These muffins can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
