CHICKEN CABBAGE DUMPLINGS

Delicate chicken cabbage dumplings with a golden sear, tender filling, and a flavorful dipping sauce, perfect for a cozy meal

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 30 dumplings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken: tender protein base
  • 2 cups green cabbage, finely shredded: adds crunch and moisture
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced: aromatic depth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated: subtle spice and warmth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce: enhances savory flavor
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil: nutty fragrance
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped: fresh sharpness
  • 30 dumpling wrappers: thin and pliable
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil: for pan frying
  • 1/3 cup water: for steaming

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Place a nonstick skillet over medium heat and have the lid nearby.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix ground chicken, shredded cabbage, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions until well combined.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet and let it heat until shimmering.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Place one tablespoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges, fold in half, and press to seal tightly.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Arrange dumplings flat side down in the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottoms turn golden. Carefully add water, cover immediately, and steam for 5 to 6 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
  6. Finishing Touches: Remove the lid and cook another 1 to 2 minutes to crisp the bottoms again.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Transfer to a plate and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Finely shred the cabbage so it blends seamlessly into the filling.
  • If the cabbage is very watery, squeeze out excess moisture before mixing.
  • Keep unused wrappers covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying.
  • Arrange dumplings in a circular pattern with a dipping bowl in the center for a beautiful presentation.
