Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 2 1/4 cups
  • Unsalted butter, softened: 1 cup
  • Brown sugar, packed: 1 cup
  • Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Large eggs: 2
  • Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
  • Baking soda: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Chocolate chips: 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is just set.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • For softer bars, slightly underbake and let them finish setting as they cool.
  • Lining the pan with parchment makes removal and slicing much easier.
  • Bars can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
