Cinnamon Apple Filling

Cinnamon Apple Filling

A warm, gooey, and aromatic cinnamon apple filling that’s perfect for pies, pastries, pancakes, and more. Made with fresh apples, a cozy blend of spices, and just the right amount of sweetness, this versatile filling brings the flavors of fall to every dish.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Set your saucepan or skillet over medium heat to preheat.
  2. Add apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and water into the pan. Stir gently to mix everything together.
  3. Let the mixture come to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugars evenly.
  4. Stir in the cornstarch and continue to cook until the sauce starts to thicken.
  5. Add the butter and vanilla extract. Keep cooking and stirring for another 5 to 7 minutes until the apples are tender and the mixture becomes glossy and thick.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or spices if needed. Let it cool slightly before using or storing.

Notes

  • Mix different apple varieties for a more complex flavor.
  • Adjust sugar levels depending on the sweetness of your apples.
  • For longer storage, freeze the filling in airtight containers for up to 3 months.
  • Try adding a splash of maple syrup for extra depth.
