Soft, gooey cinnamon roll filling wrapped in golden, crisped French toast—these roll-ups are a crowd-pleasing twist on a breakfast classic!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices soft white sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin. Spread about 1 tablespoon of filling over each slice, then roll tightly from one end to the other to form a log.
  3. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, letting the excess drip off. Place in the skillet seam-side down and cook until golden brown on all sides, turning as needed (about 4–5 minutes total).
  5. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. While roll-ups are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar to coat.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup or a cream cheese glaze if desired.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for easier rolling and less tearing.
  • Try flavored cream cheese like maple or honey walnut for a twist.
  • Best served warm, but can be reheated in the oven.
