This Citrus Blossom Butter is a dreamy, fragrant blend of softened butter, fresh citrus zest, orange blossom water, and a touch of honey. It’s lightly sweet with floral notes and a silky texture—perfect for slathering on warm scones, muffins, toast, or pancakes. Add edible petals for an extra elegant touch!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: Edible flower petals (like calendula or chamomile)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with a spatula or hand mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the orange zest, lemon zest, orange blossom water, honey, vanilla extract (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Taste and adjust: Add a touch more honey for sweetness or more blossom water for floral intensity, if desired.
  4. If using, gently fold in edible flower petals.
  5. Transfer the butter mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper and roll into a log shape, or spoon it into a jar or ramekin.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up and allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Store in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
  • Delicious on cornbread, French toast, waffles, or even warm sweet rolls.
  • To make it vegan, swap in your favorite plant-based butter.
