Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup white granulated sugar
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened and cut into pieces
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and warm
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 packet of Duncan Hines Cotton Candy Frosting Creations flavor packet
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, lightly spraying it with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sugar and cream cheese. Pour the warm melted butter over the mixture and whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl, whisking well to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cotton candy flavor packet. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully combined. The dough should be thick and slightly sticky.
  5. Form 1-inch balls of dough and lightly coat them in powdered sugar. Place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • If the cotton candy flavor packet is unavailable, consider using cotton candy flavored extract or another suitable flavoring.
  • For a more intense cotton candy flavor, you can add a few drops of cotton candy extract to the dough.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a fun twist, roll the dough balls in colored sanding sugar before baking to add sparkle and color.
