This creamy garlic Parmesan orzo is a rich and flavorful dish that pairs perfectly with any meal. The creamy sauce, made with Parmesan and a touch of garlic, envelops the tender orzo pasta for a comforting side dish or light main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Orzo:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook orzo according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
  • Simmer the Broth and Cream:
Pour in vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream, letting it warm through.
  • Add Parmesan and Season:
Gradually add grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Combine the Orzo:
Stir in cooked orzo, ensuring the pasta is well coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  • Serve:
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken broth for a non-vegetarian version of this dish.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, reduce the vegetable broth by ½ cup or add extra cheese for a richer flavor.
