  • ⅓ cup water
  • 5 ounces tomato sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (or minced onion)

Instructions

  • Cook the Ground Beef:

    • In a medium skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef and water.
    • Break up the ground beef constantly while cooking to ensure it becomes as fine as possible.
    • Once cooked, drain off any remaining water or grease.
  • Combine in Crockpot:

    • Add the cooked beef to your slow cooker.
    • Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and onion powder (or minced onion). Stir to combine.
  • Cook:

    • Set your slow cooker to LOW and cook for 2 to 2-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve:

    • Serve the hot dog chili over hot dogs, french fries, or burgers for a delicious meal!

Notes

  • This chili can also be used for chili cheese fries or as a topping for nachos.
  • For extra flavor, feel free to add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the chili.
  • If you want it thicker, you can let it cook for an additional 30 minutes to an hour with the lid slightly ajar to reduce the sauce.
