  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sugared cranberries (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, brown sugar, molasses, softened butter, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes.
  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour, or refrigerate overnight.
  5. Roll dough into a large rectangle. Spread with softened butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll tightly and cut into 12 even rolls. Place in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 45 minutes, or bring to room temp if refrigerated overnight.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls and top with sugared cranberries if desired.
