These Glow in the Dark Jolly Rancher Candy Apples are a fun and spooky treat, perfect for Halloween or glow parties! The Jolly Ranchers add vibrant color and flavor, while tonic water gives them a glowing effect under black light!

Ingredients

  • 6 Granny Smith apples

  • 6 wooden sticks

  • 1½ cups granulated sugar

  • ½ cup light corn syrup

  • ½ cup water

  • 15 Jolly Rancher hard candies (assorted colors, crushed)

  • ½ teaspoon neon food coloring (green, blue, or pink)

  • ½ teaspoon tonic water (for the glow effect)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apples

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.

  2. Insert wooden sticks into the top of each Granny Smith apple.

Step 2: Make the Candy Coating

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves.

  2. Add crushed Jolly Ranchers and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.

Step 3: Add the Glow Effect

  1. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in neon food coloring and tonic water. Mix well.

Step 4: Dip the Apples

  1. Carefully dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, tilting and rotating to coat evenly.

  2. Let the excess candy drip off, then place the apples on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 5: Let Cool & Serve

  1. Allow the apples to cool and harden completely before serving.

  2. Turn on a black light, and watch them glow!

Notes

  • Black Light Effect: The quinine in tonic water makes these apples glow under UV light!
Best Apples: Granny Smiths add a nice tart contrast, but you can also use Honeycrisp or Fuji
  • Extra Crunch: Sprinkle with crushed Jolly Ranchers before they harden for added texture.
Storage: Keep at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for a longer shelf life.
