Ground Beef Cabbage Bake

A hearty and comforting ground beef cabbage bake layered with tender cabbage, seasoned beef, tomatoes, and melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium green cabbage, about 6 cups chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion and garlic, then add ground beef, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Cook until browned.
  3. Spread half of the chopped cabbage in the baking dish.
  4. Layer half of the beef mixture over cabbage, add half of diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Repeat layers and top with cheese.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes until cabbage is tender and cheese is golden.
  6. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for best melting.
  • Let the casserole rest before slicing.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
