- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium green cabbage, about 6 cups chopped
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion and garlic, then add ground beef, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Cook until browned.
- Spread half of the chopped cabbage in the baking dish.
- Layer half of the beef mixture over cabbage, add half of diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Repeat layers and top with cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes until cabbage is tender and cheese is golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use freshly shredded cheese for best melting.
- Let the casserole rest before slicing.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
