A delightful, layered dessert with fluffy angel food cake, a creamy vanilla pudding layer, tangy sour cream, sweetened cream cheese, and a luscious cherry pie filling. This easy-to-make cake is perfect for gatherings and always a crowd-pleaser!

  • Angel Food Cake (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 package Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk (whole milk recommended)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 can Cherry Pie Filling
  • 8 oz Whipped Topping
  • Almond Slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Angel Food Cake:
    • If using a store-bought cake, ensure it’s completely cooled. If making from scratch, follow the package instructions.
    • Once cooled, cut the cake into 1-inch cubes.
  • Prepare the Pudding Layer:
    • Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with 1 1/2 cups of milk in a medium-sized bowl until thickened.
    • Fold in 1 cup of sour cream, mixing until smooth. Set aside.
  • Make the Cream Cheese Mixture:
    • Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a separate bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • Layer the Cake:
    • In a large serving dish or trifle bowl, begin layering the dessert:
      • First layer: Add half of the angel food cake cubes.
      • Second layer: Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the cake.
      • Third layer: Spread half of the pudding mixture over the cream cheese.
      • Fourth layer: Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the pudding.
  • Repeat the Layers:
    • Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients, finishing with the cherry pie filling on top for a beautiful presentation.
  • Chill and Set:
    • Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  • Top with Whipped Topping:
    • Just before serving, spread 8 oz of whipped topping over the dessert.
    • Optionally, garnish with almond slices for extra texture and elegance.
  • Serve & Enjoy:
    • Slice and serve! Expect plenty of compliments for this heavenly treat!

Notes

  • For an extra layer of crunch, sprinkle some almond slices on top.
