Ingredients

Scale

For the Cupcakes:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp dried culinary lavender, finely ground

For the Honey Lavender Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp dried culinary lavender, steeped in 1 tbsp warm milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp heavy cream (if needed for consistency)

Instructions

  • Make the Cupcakes: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and honey until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and lavender.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined.
  • Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  • Make the Frosting: Strain the steeped lavender milk and discard any solids. Beat together butter, powdered sugar, honey, vanilla extract, and the lavender-infused milk until smooth and creamy. If needed, add heavy cream to reach the desired frosting consistency.

  • Assemble: Frost the cooled cupcakes and garnish with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of dried lavender. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra lavender flavor, you can increase the amount of dried lavender in the cupcakes or frosting, but be careful not to overpower the flavor.
  • These cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

  • If you don’t have culinary lavender, make sure to use lavender that is specifically safe for cooking.
