  • 1 cup (226 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (90 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups (220 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour, matcha powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mix to the butter mixture, mixing just until combined.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  5. Pipe the dough into swirled rosettes on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  6. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until the edges are just starting to turn golden.
  7. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use high-quality matcha for the best flavor and color.
  • If dough is too soft to pipe, chill it briefly in the fridge.
  • Don’t overbake or you’ll lose the vibrant green color.
