- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs for 18–20 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
- While meatballs bake, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add cooked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes.
- Toast the hoagie rolls, then fill each with meatballs, extra sauce, and shredded mozzarella.
- Broil the assembled subs for 1–2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Notes
- Toast the rolls to avoid sogginess.
- Use a mix of meats for more flavor.
- Make ahead by freezing extra meatballs.
