  • Granulated sugar (for coating): 1/2 cup
  • Caramel sauce: 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat until ready for frying.
  2. In a saucepan, bring water, butter, granulated sugar, and salt to a gentle boil.
  3. Lower the heat and add the flour all at once, stirring until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the sides.
  4. Transfer the warm dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  5. Pipe short strips of dough directly into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Remove the churros with a slotted spoon and immediately roll them in granulated sugar.
  7. Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping.
