Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep:

    • Preheat the oven to broil on high.
    • Lightly spray a 12-inch ovenproof skillet with cooking spray.
  2. Cook the Burger:

    • Press the ground beef into an even layer in the skillet.
    • Use a spoon to create divots to prevent puffing.
    • Season with salt, Italian seasoning, and black pepper.
    • Broil for 15 minutes until cooked through and browned.
    • Remove the burger from the skillet and set it aside. Discard the pan drippings.
  3. Sauté the Onions & Garlic:

    • Reduce the oven temperature to 450°F (230°C).
    • Melt butter in the skillet over medium heat.
    • Add onions and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • Stir in garlic and cook for 2 more minutes until fragrant.
    • Transfer the sautéed onions and garlic to a plate.
  4. Assemble the Pizza Burger:

    • Place one pizza crust at the bottom of the skillet.
    • Spread ¼ to ⅓ cup pizza sauce over the crust.
    • Evenly distribute the onions and garlic.
    • Place the cooked burger patty on top.
    • Cover the burger with American cheese slices.
    • Place the second pizza crust upside down over the burger.
  5. Top & Bake:

    • Spread the remaining pizza sauce over the top crust.
    • Sprinkle with two-thirds of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
    • Add pepperoni and mushrooms, distributing them evenly.
    • Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Slice & Serve:

    • Cut into wedges and serve hot.
    • Garnish with fresh basil and crushed red pepper flakes, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add other pizza toppings like olives, bell peppers, or sausage.

  • If you prefer, you can use homemade pizza dough instead of premade pizza crust.
