Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Fill each donut well about 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Dip each donut into the glaze and set on a wire rack to cool.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and airy.
  • Store donuts in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days for best freshness.
  • You can also roll the donuts in cinnamon sugar instead of glazing for a different flavor.
