This sweet, smoky, and slightly spicy One-Pan Honey BBQ Chicken Rice is an easy, flavor-packed meal perfect for busy weeknights! Juicy chicken bites coated in a bold honey BBQ sauce, mixed with fluffy rice, and finished with fresh green onions—this dish is pure comfort food!

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

 

  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Chicken:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add chicken pieces and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  • Cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked.

2️⃣ Prepare the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes.

3️⃣ Sauce & Simmer:

  • Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and caramelizes.

4️⃣ Mix in the Rice:

  • Add cooked rice to the skillet, stirring to combine with the sauce and chicken.
  • Cook for another 2 minutes until heated through.

5️⃣ Garnish & Serve:

 

  • Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve hot.
