One Pan Lasagne

A comforting one pan lasagne with layers of meaty tomato sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey melted mozzarella, all baked to golden perfection

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons, for sautéing onions and garlic
  • Ground Beef: 1 pound, provides rich, hearty flavor
  • Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped, adds sweetness and depth
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced, enhances aroma and flavor
  • Crushed Tomatoes: 28 ounces, forms the bulk of the savory sauce
  • Tomato Paste: 2 tablespoons, intensifies tomato flavor
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 tablespoon, classic herb mix
  • Salt and Pepper: to taste, balances all flavors
  • Oven-Ready Lasagne Noodles: 9 sheets, no-boil convenience
  • Ricotta Cheese: 1 cup, adds creamy texture
  • Mozzarella Cheese: 2 cups shredded, melts beautifully on top
  • Parmesan Cheese: ½ cup grated, adds salty, umami finish
  • Fresh Basil: for garnish, adds a pop of color and freshness

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F if baking. Otherwise, prepare a large oven-safe skillet for stovetop cooking.
  2. Heat olive oil in the pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened. Stir in ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  4. Break lasagne noodles to fit the pan. Layer noodles, sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella. Repeat until ingredients are used up, topping with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Cover and cook on stovetop for 25 minutes. Optionally transfer to oven uncovered for 10 minutes to brown the top.
  6. Sprinkle fresh basil on top and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  7. Slice and serve hot with a side salad or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Let the lasagne rest before cutting for cleaner slices.
  • Add a pinch of sugar if tomato sauce tastes too acidic.
  • Use a cast iron skillet for even cooking and easy serving.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace beef with mushrooms or lentils.
