A quick and flavorful dish combining tender beef, colorful bell peppers, and savory sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef steak (sirloin, flank, or ribeye), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch until smooth. Add the thinly sliced beef and toss to coat evenly. Let the beef marinate for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  • Sear the Beef:
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef slices in a single layer, working in batches if needed. Sear the beef for 1-2 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the Vegetables:
In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and onion. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  • Add Garlic and Ginger:
Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
  • Combine and Finish:
Return the seared beef to the skillet. Pour in the beef broth or water and stir to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the beef and vegetables.
  • Season and Serve:
Taste and adjust with salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider sprinkling sesame seeds on top before serving.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add a dash of chili flakes or sliced fresh chili.
  • You can also substitute chicken for the beef for a variation of this dish.
