Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Pasta or crusty bread, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Warm a large skillet over medium heat. If serving with pasta, bring a large pot of water to boil.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In the skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Add garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Ensure your skillet is hot but not smoking to achieve a gentle sizzle.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Add shrimp in a single layer. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Add lemon juice, zest, and remaining butter. Stir to coat shrimp in sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Finishing Touches: Toss in fresh parsley and stir. If serving over pasta, add it now.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Plate and spoon extra sauce over the top. Serve with bread or lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Use jumbo shrimp for best texture.
  • Don’t let the garlic brown to avoid bitterness.
