A delightful twist on the classic strawberry jam, this version incorporates balsamic vinegar, giving it a tangy, depth-of-flavor that perfectly complements the sweetness of the strawberries. A unique topping for toast, yogurt, or cheese plates!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 3 tablespoons sugar, or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, or more to taste

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine the diced strawberries, sugar, and balsamic vinegar.
  • Cook the Jam:
    • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
    • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 25-30 minutes, or until the jam has thickened to your desired consistency.
  • Cool and Store:
    • Allow the jam to cool to room temperature. It will thicken further as it cools.
    • Transfer the jam to a clean jar or airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a smoother jam, you can mash the strawberries during the cooking process or blend the jam after it cools.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar depending on the ripeness of your strawberries.
  • If you prefer a stronger balsamic flavor, you can add extra balsamic vinegar while cooking.
