Ingredients
Scale
2 firm, ripe bananas (peeled and sliced thinly into rounds)
1 tablespoon melted butter or coconut oil
1 tablespoon white sugar (or use coconut sugar for a healthier choice)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
Slice the Bananas: Peel and slice the bananas into thin rounds, about ⅛ inch thick. Try to keep the slices uniform for even cooking.
Prepare the Coating: In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar. Lightly coat the banana slices with melted butter or coconut oil, then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat for 3-5 minutes.
Cook the Banana Chips: Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overlapping. Cook in batches if needed. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chips are golden and crispy. Keep a close eye on them in the last few minutes to prevent burning.
Cool and Enjoy: Transfer the banana chips to a wire rack to cool completely. They will crisp up as they cool. Enjoy right away or store in an airtight container for up to two days.
Notes
For a savory-sweet twist, sprinkle a little sea salt over the banana chips before air frying.
Make sure the banana slices are thin for crispy chips, and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
