Smoked sausage or kielbasa is seared to perfection and coated in a rich, sticky honey garlic sauce with a hint of Dijon mustard and soy sauce. It’s sweet, savory, and just the right amount of spicy—an irresistible combination!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage or kielbasa (sliced into 1/2-inch rounds)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of spice)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Sausage

  1. Slice the smoked sausage or kielbasa into 1/2-inch rounds.

Sear the Sausage

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sausage slices and cook until golden brown on both sides (about 3–4 minutes per side). Remove the sausage and set aside.

Make the Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  2. Stir in honey, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to combine.

Thicken the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together water and cornstarch until smooth.
  2. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the skillet, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  3. Simmer the sauce over medium heat until it thickens (about 2–3 minutes).

Combine and Heat Through

  1. Return the browned sausage to the skillet, tossing to coat each piece evenly in the honey garlic sauce.
  2. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, allowing the sausage to absorb the flavors.

Serve

  1. Transfer the sausage to a serving dish and garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
  2. Serve warm over rice, mashed potatoes, or alongside roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • Spicy Option: For an extra kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a splash of hot sauce.
  • Make Ahead: This dish is great for meal prep. You can make the sauce and sausage ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Serve with: Pair it with roasted veggies, a side of mashed potatoes, or steamed rice for a complete meal.
