Ingredients

Scale

For the Muffin Batter:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it with butter.
  • Prepare the Muffin Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the muffins light and fluffy.
  • Make the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  • Assemble the Muffins:
Fill each muffin cup halfway with the batter. Sprinkle a small amount of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter. Add another layer of muffin batter to cover the cinnamon sugar.
Use a toothpick or knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar mixture into the batter for a marbled effect.
  • Bake:
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the muffins to cool for 5 minutes in the tin before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Customization: You can add chopped nuts, raisins, or even a sprinkle of coarse sugar on top for added texture and flavor.
