Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Pink gel food coloring
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- ½ cup colorful sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Stir in the flour and salt until a dough forms. Divide the dough in half.
- Add pink gel food coloring to one half and mix until evenly colored.
- Roll each dough half into equal-sized rectangles, about ¼ inch thick.
- Layer the colored dough on top of the plain dough and roll into a tight log. Wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Slice into ¼ inch thick rounds. Place on baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes.
- Cool completely. Mix powdered sugar and milk to form icing. Dip biscuit edges and roll in sprinkles. Let set.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant color without affecting dough texture.
- Chill the dough well to ensure clean spiral slices.
- Freeze the dough log for easier slicing.
