These cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with gooey chocolate chips. Perfectly golden on the edges with a melt-in-your-mouth center. The ultimate chocolate chip cookie recipe!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together with a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Add Chocolate Chips:
Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Shape and Bake:
Scoop 2-tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are just set. Do not overbake; they will continue to cook on the baking sheet.
  • Cool and Enjoy:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, underbake them slightly, so they remain soft in the center.
  • For a more crisp cookie, bake them a minute or two longer.
  • You can substitute half of the semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk chocolate or dark chocolate for a twist.
