Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (for soaking)
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (for garnish)
  • 1 cup caramel-filled chocolate turtles (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add wet ingredients: Add the butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Beat until smooth and well combined.
  • Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Poke: Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and poke holes all over the top using a skewer or fork.
  • Soak: Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the top, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  • Frost: Once the cake has cooled, spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle chopped pecans on top and add the caramel-filled chocolate turtles for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can drizzle additional caramel sauce over the frosting before serving.
  • This cake can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • If you don’t have caramel-filled turtles, you can use regular chocolate turtles or other chocolate candy.
