Ingredients
Scale
- 4 frozen cod fillets, about 5 ounces each, thawed or partially thawed
- 2 tablespoons white miso paste
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 small garlic clove, grated
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 2 cups steamed green vegetables, such as bok choy or broccoli
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon green onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, or preheat an air fryer to 400°F.
- In a small bowl, whisk together white miso paste, low-sodium soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, grated garlic, and sesame oil until smooth.
- Lightly grease the skillet or air fryer basket. Pat the cod fillets very dry with paper towels.
- Brush the miso glaze evenly over the top and sides of the cod fillets.
- Cook the cod for 4 to 5 minutes per side in the skillet, or air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, until the fish flakes easily and reaches 145°F.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onion while warm.
- Serve with cooked white rice and steamed green vegetables.
Notes
- Pat the cod very dry so the glaze sticks and caramelizes properly.
- Use white miso for the mildest, slightly sweet flavor.
- Do not overcook the cod, since it becomes dry quickly.
- Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten free option.
