Ingredients
Scale
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups milk, divided
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4–5 medium Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Season the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then form into 6 patties.
Brown the beef patties in a skillet over medium heat, then set aside.
In the same skillet, whisk 1 cup of milk with the flour, then add the remaining milk to form a gravy.
Layer half of the sliced potatoes and onions in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Place the beef patties on top of the potatoes and onions, then layer the remaining potatoes and onions over the patties.
Pour the gravy evenly over the layers.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
Uncover the dish, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
For a more flavorful gravy, you can add a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce or beef bouillon to the milk mixture.
This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of green beans or a fresh salad.
