Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Chocolate Drizzle:

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 23 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Fry the Donuts:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C). Roll the dough into small balls or round donut shapes. Carefully fry the donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Coat the Donuts:
    • While the donuts are still warm, roll them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar until well coated.
  5. Prepare the Chocolate Drizzle:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with butter and milk, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and glossy.
  6. Drizzle the Chocolate:
    • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cinnamon-sugar donuts for an extra indulgent touch.

Serving and Storage:

  • These donuts are best enjoyed warm, fresh out of the fryer, with the chocolate drizzle still slightly melted.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • For a twist, try using dark chocolate or milk chocolate for the drizzle.
  • You can also roll the donuts in powdered sugar for a lighter coating, if preferred.
