Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup strawberry jam

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate small bowl, combine the warm milk, egg, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Donuts: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them on a floured surface. Let rise for another 15-20 minutes.
  • Fry the Donuts: Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.
  • Assemble the Donuts: Cut each donut in half horizontally. Fill the bottom half with a spoonful of strawberry jam and top with a generous amount of whipped cream. Place the top half on top and dust with powdered sugar.
  • Serve: Serve the donuts immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is at the right temperature to prevent the donuts from being greasy.
  • For a different twist, try using other fruit jams or flavored whipped cream in the filling.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
