Garlic Butter Salmon Pasta

Garlic Butter Salmon Pasta

A creamy and comforting salmon pasta made with tender flaky salmon, linguine, garlic butter, parmesan, cream, lemon, and fresh parsley.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces linguine
  • 1 pound salmon fillets, skin removed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Season the salmon with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  3. Cook the linguine until al dente, then reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
  4. Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook the salmon for 3 to 4 minutes per side, then transfer to a plate and flake gently.
  6. Add remaining butter and minced garlic to the skillet, then cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Pour in the heavy cream, add parmesan, and stir until smooth.
  8. Add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce.
  9. Toss the drained pasta in the sauce until coated.
  10. Fold in the flaked salmon, lemon juice, lemon zest, parsley, and remaining black pepper.
  11. Serve warm with extra parmesan and parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated parmesan for the smoothest sauce.
  • Add pasta water slowly so the sauce stays creamy but not thin.
  • Fold the salmon gently to keep visible tender flakes.
  • Reheat leftovers slowly with a splash of cream, milk, or water.
