Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 34 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  • Whip the Butter: In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the butter for about 1 minute until light and fluffy.
  • Add Sugar and Liquids: Add 2 cups of powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the bowl. Mix well.
  • Finish the Frosting: Add the remaining 2 cups of powdered sugar, food coloring (if desired), and 3 tablespoons of milk. Mix until smooth. If you’re piping the frosting, stick with 3 tablespoons of milk. For spreading, add the extra tablespoon of milk to thin the frosting slightly.
  • Frost the Cookies: Once the frosting is ready, decorate your cookies by spreading or piping the frosting as desired.
