Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C) 🥛
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast 🌾
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar 🍚
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted 🧈
  • 1 large egg 🥚
  • 3 ½4 cups all-purpose flour 🌾
  • 1 tsp salt 🧂

For the Butter Topping:

  • 3 tbsp butter, melted 🧈
  • 1 tbsp honey 🍯 (optional)

Instructions

  • Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. 🌡️
  • Mix the dough: Add melted butter, egg, salt, and 3 ½ cups of flour. Stir until a dough forms. Add more flour if needed, until the dough is soft but not sticky. 🥣
Knead & rise: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. ⏳🍞
Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thick. Cut into 12-15 squares and place them on a baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. 🔲
Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. 🔥🍞
Butter topping: Brush the warm rolls with melted butter (mix with honey for extra flavor). Serve warm and enjoy! 🧈😋

Notes

  • For fluffier rolls, make sure to not overwork the dough.
  • Adding honey to the butter topping gives these rolls the signature sweet flavor that makes them irresistible!
