These Valentine’s Black Forest Dream Bars are a perfect combination of chocolate, cherry, and creamy goodness. A dreamy dessert for any romantic celebration or sweet indulgence!

  • 1 package Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix
  • 1/3 cup oil (as directed on cookie mix pouch)
  • 1 egg (as directed on cookie mix pouch)
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tub (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cookie Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper. In a mixing bowl, combine the Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix, oil, and egg as directed on the package. Press the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake the Base: Bake the cookie layer for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are set and lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan.
  • Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer: In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until fully combined.
  • Assemble the Dream Bars: Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the cooled cookie base. Gently spread the cream cheese mixture on top of the cherry layer, smoothing it with a spatula.
  • Chill and Serve: Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set. Slice into bars, serve chilled, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure to refrigerate the bars long enough to allow the cream cheese layer to set properly.
  • You can use fresh cherries or other fruit fillings for a twist on the classic flavor!
